When the four-hour swing is louder than the day
A clean push on the four-hour sheet can sit entirely inside a daily candle that has not finished. The desk marks the unfinished day before it honours the hour.
The hour that looks complete
Four-hour candles close often enough to feel like decisions. A student will arrive with three of them shaded and a story about a breakout. Then we put the daily sheet next to them and the whole push is still inside yesterday’s high and low.
That does not make the four-hour sheet useless. It makes it early. In week four of the Desk Cycle the four-hour is allowed on the table only after the day’s range is drawn, including the part of the day that has not closed.
A mark we actually use
Shade the daily high-to-low that is still open. If the four-hour swing is inside that shade, write “inside the day” in the margin and do not promote the swing to a level. If the four-hour leaves the shade and the daily later closes outside yesterday’s range, the weekly sheet is the next place to look, not a new four-hour line.
Niran’s Thursday consultations often start with this erasure. People are relieved and a little annoyed. The annoying part is the point: a level you cannot defend on the daily does not get to lead.
Where this shows up in class
The Saturday workshop never reaches the four-hour, on purpose. Students who only have the day to spare still leave with the shade habit. Students on the Tuesday cycle meet the same habit again in week four, when the lower sheet is finally turned face up.
If you already have a four-hour chart covered in lines and a daily chart with almost none, bring both to a consultation. The first half hour is usually spent turning the lower sheet over.
